"Cozy and charming"
"Really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is warm and inviting."
Good food at south gate brewing company!
Huge, clean and comfy rooms! Located close to many restaurants and shops.
Gym was limited but I heard they will be renovating it. Wi-fi was somewhat useless. Breakfast is pretty basic.
"Large clean rooms, good value"
"Relatively large hotel, with very friendly front desk staff, who did everything possible to help us. Rooms are large and clean, though somewhat out-dated in terms of styling - we had no problem with this. Breakfast was basic but more than enough to power us up for a day hiking in Yosemite. Oakhurst has a number of good restaurants within walking (or short drive) distance, some of which give a discount for guests of the hotel. Small pool and spa/hot tub was great to relax in after a day's walking. Only real criticism is the Wifi was slow to unusable, though the front desk staff did warn us of this from the outset. There are various outlets offering free Wifi in the area (Burger King, Starbucks etc) if you need it, which work fine, but if Wifi in the hotel is important to you, this hotel would be a problem. Location wise it's about 1h 20m drive to Yosemite. Overall our experience was good, especially in terms of value for money - we would stay here again."
Get up really early to drive to Yosemite - especially in summer - avoiding both the crowds and the midday heat. We left the hotel at 7am and hiked to the top of Vernal Falls by 10.
"Enjoyed Our Stay!"
"The young guy at the front desk (dark hair and beard) handled our phone reservation and was very, very polite and helpful -he was just as helpful in person. The small town of Oakhurst is quaint and has everything you need for a Yosemite vacation (restaurants, fast food, gas, stores etc...). The hotel is a worn but comfortable clean rooms and quiet - very close to the Yosemite. There's no other hotel that's any nicer in town in case you're wondering. The breakfast was sufficient to get your day going and everyone at the front desk were very accommodating. "
Take a side trip to Bass Lake if you have time.
"Clean and comfortable."
"We liked this hotel very much. The staff were very pleasant. It's a long drive to the Yosemite Valley - about 1 hour and 20 minutes, but a very beautiful drive! If you can't get closer accommodation, this is a great place. Breakfast time could be a bit crowded, depending on when you wanted it. The internet was very slow. Overall, a very pleasant experience."
They had the menus for a lot of the local restaurants at the reception, which helped us decide where we wanted to eat. That was very helpful, particularly our first evening.
