Oakhurst is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Oakhurst is a beautiful town with alpine views, golf courses, shops, dining and exciting attractions like the Fresno River. Drive 15 minutes to Yosemite National Park, a natural treasure that awakens your spirit.

This minimal New England style church was constructed under the sponsorship of the California State Sunday School Association, somewhat by memberships from the youngsters, yet for the most part from the deliberate commitments of voluntary from the Association.

The main administration was hung on June 7, 1879, and the church was filled to flooding by delegates to the National Sunday School Assembly who were meeting in Yosemite Valley.

Hours of operation:

Sunday: 9:15AM – 12:30PM, 6:30 – 7:30PM

Wednesday: 7AM – 8PM

The Chapel was given Historic American building status by the National Park Service in 1965. Following this, its inside was reestablished and another establishment was set under it.

The sanctuary was initially implicit the “Lower Village” as called then, its site at the present day trailhead of the Four Mile Trail . The sanctuary was moved to its present area in 1901, as the old Lower Village dwindled.
